Miss Oops Monthly Blog Post

As temperatures continue to drop, your skin faces daily assault from harsh winter air and dry central heat. Instead of suffering with rough, cracked cold-weather skin, why not show winter who’s boss and take back your naturally beautiful skin?

During the colder months my face, neck and chest are often the only areas not hidden under layers of clothing. That’s why I never leave home without slathering on my secret weapon, Miss Oops Headshot. This ultra-nourishing product provides extra moisture and firming where you need it the most so you can show some skin, even in the winter.

Are you ready for your Headshot?

Insecurities
Thursday, January 27, 2011

This morning I took by 3rd grade grandson to school with his science project.  He was unsure as to whether he was to bring it this morning or this afternoon.  I assured him that if we didn't see anyone bringing science projects into the school, I would take his project home and bring it back this afternoon. 1st insecurity.

As we approached the school, he saw many kids with the big posters ( the kind that has the problem, hypothesis, etc) and a few carrying the physical project.  Insecurity gone.

When we went into the school, he was unsure where to take it.  2nd insecurity. I kept asking and someone said maybe the cafeteria.  Went there - no one there.  I told him we would take it to his homeroom.  He verrrry slowly approached his home room.  I walked in asked his teacher and she said yes.  I sat his board down and looked out the door with him holding his project and very hesitant to walk in front of his classmates with it. 3rd insecurity.

So I took it and walked back into the classroom with it and set it down.  He waited until I had left the classroom and he went in.  Insecurity gone.

As I walked back to my car, I thought of me at that age and the insecurities you have.  You are so afraid you will do something that appears to be stupid and the kids will tease you.  It gets worse in the teen years.  For females our insecurities run from being too tall or too short, developing too fast or not developing fast enough,or not being accepted by our peers.

Miss Oops makes products for our Oops.  Tape for gaping blouse fronts, foot cream for rough cracked heels, Boob Tubes and JAKS for preventing too much skin showing, etc.  Unfortunately Miss Oops can not make a product to prevent insecurities.  I believe only age and experience can help that.

At my age, I am in my late 60's, I don't have the insecurities that I had when I was younger.  I now have just plain old fears.  Fears that my agility abilities are declining.  Fears that my memory, eyesight, and hearing are going.

I guess it doesn't matter what age you are.  Life always seems to have a test for you.

The holiday season is officially here--between the shopping, decorating, dinner parties and party hopping you are at high risk for style slip-ups. I know I tend to get a little frazzled around this time of year! Don’t let beauty/fashion casualties spoil your plans this holiday season. I have a few tips and product suggestions from Miss Oops to keep your holiday fool-proof this season. Keep these items close by when attending all holiday festivities and you’ll be sure to make any fashion dilemmas disappear in no time! Listen and learn...

I always keep Miss Oops Mishap Tape on hand.  There’s nothing more irritating than attending a fancy holiday party, and noticing the hem in my dress unraveling, or the blouse I’m wearing is too tight in the bust area and keeps popping open.  The double-sided Mishap Tape is perfect for these situations.  Easily fixes hems, low cut tops, pant pockets that pucker, or even belts that flap open.  It’s my own little secret weapon.

Another trick of the trade is using hair spray to remove static cling. Why is it that our fabulous, expensive party dresses always seem to stick to our tights at the WORST POSSIBLE MOMENTS?! I always have a travel-size shapers bottle of hair spray in my purse. Spray on legs and see static no more!

Lastly, no matter how much time I spend preparing for a holiday party, no matter how long I spend looking for the most stylish outfit, no matter how flawless I think my makeup is, I always seem to spot a smudge or a stain of some sort on my perfectly planned getup! This is when the Miss Oops Rescue Sponge truly saves the night. It never fails to rub out makeup smudges or deodorant stains, just in the nick of time.

Stay tuned for more tips and tricks to solve your holiday fashion dilemmas!

Best Methods to remove facial hair…
Sunday, June 20, 2010
Recently we received two emails from women asking what we recommend to remove facial hair.  After discussing this in our office, we have several recommendations.  First, Surgi-Cream.  This has been around for years and can be picked up at most drug stores.  Spread the cream on your face where there is unwanted hair, wait no longer than four minutes, then wash it off.  It’s that simple and it really does work.  The one caution we have is to remember to remove the cream before or when four minutes have passed.  If you keep it on longer, you could burn your skin.  Another option:  threading.  This has been around for centuries.  Unwanted hair is removed from the roots with the use of a cotton thread by trained practioners.  One caution:  threading can cut the skin so make sure your esthetician has experience in threading.  One other solution to remove facial hair:  waxing.  This is also a very effective method.  Hot wax (not too hot) is spread over the unwanted hair, then facial wax strips are placed over the wax and then pulled quickly from the skin.  Instantly, the area is smooth and clear of unwanted hair.  However over time, waxing can cause the skin to sag.  Any other suggestions for facial hair removal, please let us know!
Solution for red wine stains…
Thursday, April 08, 2010
My friend, Nikki, called me this morning to tell me about a cool solution she found for red-wine stains.  The product is called Wine Away and it removes stains instantly!  I told her I remember seeing a hostess spray it on a white rug at a dinner party and the red wine stain dissolved before my eyes .  It was truly magic!  Or some concoction that removes red-wine stains instantly:).  www.WineAway.com.  Check it out & let us know what you think or if you have other solutions for red-wine stains!
