Winter skin care!

It is that time of the year again when the hands get dry and the lips get chapped. You guessed it right. Winter is here and while we bid farewell to humidity we can welcome dry nippy air and a whole lot of skin problems due to all the dryness in the air. If this is bothering you, you don’t need to fret anymore. Follow these tips and get rid of the dry skin and welcome the winter with a bright smile!

Try your best to avoid long showers regardless of how appealing these hot showers may seem. As comforting as they may seem, they dry your skin and make it flakier, which causes a lot of skin problems. Instead of a long bath, go for short like warm shower, which not only keeps your skin hydrated but avoids dryness. Use a light moisturizer after bath and make sure to keep one with you at all times to avoid dryness. Cleanse your skin with a tablespoon of honey after the bath and you will eliminate half of your skin problems.

Winter is the time when your skin needs exfoliation more than ever because it improved the blood circulation and avoids dead skin cells, which become very common in the winters. You can use body scrubs to exfoliate your skin. Body scrubs are a girls best friend during winters because they do wonders on the skin when it starts to get dry. For those who prefer natural products, olive oil can be used to exfoliate as well. Add sugar to olive oil and use that as a scrub on your skin. Not only will it help you avoid the dead skin cells but will also moisturize your skin and not let it dry.

The markets have a million kinds of moisturizers out there but the kind you need depends on your skin type. If your skin is dry, it is best to use body butter or a relatively oily moisturizer because that wont give you the icky sticky feeling. However, if our skin is already oily it is best to use a water based moisturizer. Moisturizing may seem like a pain to many but it is extremely important during he winter months and should be taken care of.

Sun control

one must understand that the skin on the face is more sensitive and thus needs to be taken care of. This is precisely why sun screen is a must even during the winter months because while it may seem cold, the sun still sends out UV rays which can be damaging to the skin. It is best to apply the sun screen about fifteen to twenty minutes before leaving the house so that it starts working by the time the skin gets exposed to the sun.

Once you take care of all this, you’ll realize winter isn't that bad for the skin.Make the most of this weather when you can bring out your sweaters, coats and bundle up and enjoy chocolate and coffee like never before. Just make sure to drink lots of water, eat healthy food like nuts and tuna and exfoliate and moisturize your skin regularly. Follow this regimen and you will notice the results in no time.
